Who we are
River Hatch (“River Hatch”, “we”, “us”) operates
riverhatch.com, a fly fishing reference and fly box planning service.
Our mailing address is 4611 Ortega Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210. Questions about this
policy go to peter@riverhatch.com.

Basic usage data
Pages viewed and rough location from IP, to see what people use and to keep the service secure
We do not collect your street address, your date of birth, or payment
details. We do not sell anything on this site today.
How we use it
To run the service — sign you in, save your fly boxes, show them back to you.
To contact you about your account, such as a sign-in link or a service change.
To send hatch reports and updates, only if you ticked that box.
To understand in aggregate which rivers, months and patterns are popular.
To protect the service against abuse, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with
advertisers or data brokers.
Reports you choose to publish
Everything above is private to you. Reports are the one exception, and only when
you choose to publish one.
A published report shows your first name and last initial, your home state,
the river and section, your photograph, and anything you write. Anyone can see
it, including people who are not signed in and search engines. Your email
address and phone number are never shown.
We deliberately do not publish precise locations — river and named section only.
Please do not put an exact spot, a private access point or anyone else’s details in
the text of a report.
You can delete a report at any time and it will be removed from the site. Copies may
persist briefly in caches or search engine indexes outside our control. Ask us at
peter@riverhatch.com if you need a report taken down urgently.
Marketing, and how to stop it
Marketing email and text messages are opt-in and separate from your account. Ticking
neither box still gives you a full account. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe
link; reply STOP to any text to end texts. We will still send you
essential account messages, such as a sign-in link you requested.
Who else sees it
We use service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, and only to
provide the service to you:
Supabase — account and database hosting
Netlify — website hosting
Outlook — sign-in and notification email
We may also disclose information if legally required, or to protect our rights or
someone's safety. If the business is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer
as part of that, and we will tell you first.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and fly boxes for as long as your account is open. If you ask us
to delete your account we will remove your personal information within
30 days, except anything we must keep by law. Aggregate statistics
that cannot identify you may be retained.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live in the United States, you may ask us to:
Know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
Access a copy of it, in a portable form.
Correct anything inaccurate.
Delete it.
Opt out of marketing email and text messages.
Write to peter@riverhatch.com and we will respond within
45 days. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days.
We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lesser
experience for exercising any of these rights.
To protect your account we need to verify who you are before acting on a request. For
most requests, sending your message from the email address on the account is enough. You
may also use an authorised agent, who will need written permission from you.
California residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, you have the rights
listed above plus the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and
to limit the use of sensitive personal information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for
cross-context behavioural advertising. We have not done so in the preceding
twelve months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under
16. We do not collect sensitive personal information as that term is defined by the CCPA.
The categories of personal information we collect are identifiers (name, email
address, phone number), geolocation at city level (the city and state you tell
us), commercial information (the fly boxes you build), and internet activity
(basic usage of this site). We collect them for the purposes described above, from you
directly and from your use of the site, and we keep them as described in
“How long we keep it”.
Other states
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana and other
states with comprehensive privacy laws have substantially the same rights, including the
right to appeal a refused request. If we decline a request we will tell you why, and you
may appeal by replying to that message. Write to us at the address above.
Outside the United States
River Hatch is operated from the United States and intended for anglers fishing United
States waters. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, note that
your information will be processed in the United States, and that this policy is not
written to satisfy the UK or EU GDPR. Contact us before registering if that matters to
you.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and held with reputable hosting providers. No system is
perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Tell us promptly at
peter@riverhatch.com if you believe your account has been accessed
without permission.
Children
River Hatch is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we
will delete it.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not use cookies. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics
cookies and no third-party tracking on this site.
We do use your browser's local storage, which is a different thing and is used only to
make the service work: it holds your sign-in session so you are not asked to sign in on
every page, and a copy of your fly boxes so they appear instantly. Nothing in it is used
to track you or shared with anyone. Clearing your browser data removes it, and you will
simply be asked to sign in again.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date above, and for significant changes
we will tell you by email or by a notice on the site.

Terms of Use
Last updated: 27 August 2026 · Effective: 27 August 2026
Agreement
By using riverhatch.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not
use the site. We are River Hatch, 4611 Ortega Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210, contactable
at peter@riverhatch.com.
Fishing is dangerous. Read this part.
River Hatch is a reference and planning tool. It is not fishing
instruction, not a safety service and not a source of legal information.
Regulations change constantly and are not in this service.
Seasons, closures, licences, gear restrictions, catch limits and access rules are
your responsibility. Check with the relevant state agency or a local fly shop before
you fish. Our data deliberately excludes them.
Water conditions change by the hour. Flow, temperature, ice and
hazards are not reflected here. Wading and boating carry a real risk of drowning and
injury.
Access and land ownership are not covered. Do not rely on this
service to tell you where you may legally stand or park.
You are responsible for your own safety and conduct on the water.
What the service is
River Hatch lets you look up fly patterns commonly used on a given river in a given
month, and assemble and save fly box lists. Fly recommendations are general guidance
compiled from published sources and local knowledge. They are opinion, not fact, and
they do not guarantee that you will catch fish.
Accounts
Give accurate information when you register, and keep it current.
Your account is yours — do not share access.
You must be at least 13, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live.
Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
Acceptable use
Do not scrape, bulk-download or republish our river and fly data; resell or
redistribute the service; attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to it;
upload unlawful content; or use it to break the law.
Your content
The fly boxes you create remain yours. You grant us the licence needed to store and
display them back to you, and to use anonymous, aggregated patterns of use to improve the
service. We will not publish an identifiable fly box without your permission.
Our content
The river data, fly catalog, text, imagery and software are owned by us or our
licensors and protected by copyright. You may use them for your own personal,
non-commercial fishing. Everything else needs our written permission.
Availability
We provide the service “as is” and “as available”. We may
change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and we do not promise it will be
uninterrupted, error-free, or that the data is complete or accurate.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied,
including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, River Hatch and its owners are not liable for
any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for personal injury,
death, property damage, legal penalty or lost fishing time arising from your use of the
service or reliance on its information. Our total liability will not exceed the greater
of $100 or the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify River Hatch against claims arising from your use of the service
or your breach of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and continued use after a
change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its
conflict of laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Duval
County, Florida.
